At Orchid, we utilize integrated capital including grants, recoverable grants, below-market loans, and equity investments to transform the community care infrastructure.
An integrated capital framework allows us to finance Black, Indigenous, Queer and Trans, and People of Color (QTBIPOC) owned and led initiatives that have historically been denied access to the capital and non-financial resources necessary to sustain and scale their work.
Community leaders’ vision for realizing reproductive justice is stymied by a funding landscape that withholds ample resources.
Current investment approaches stop at “diversity;” lack a focus on sustainability; intentionally stifle community’s potential to lead, own, and govern; and perpetuate cycles of extraction. At Orchid, we’re redefining impact investing as sustainable financing for QTBIPOC leaders.
We provide various types of financing that meets people where they are with the right capital at the right time. And we walk with them until they reach scale. We prioritize long-term partnerships and relationships because we understand that the deep change our communities need takes time, love, and comprehensive resourcing to bolster community leadership.
We’re building a new system that includes patient, long-term, diversified capital to drive local economic development and financial resilience, build a culture of community health and wellness, and grow a strong birth and reproductive justice workforce.
